Dr. Dorothy Achiaa Agyeman, a proud native of Duayaw Nkwanta in the Ahafo Region of Ghana, delivered an inspiring speech at the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026 at William Smith High School.

Addressing graduates, teachers, staff, and families, Dr. Agyeman encouraged students to remain determined in pursuing their dreams regardless of their background or challenges.

Reflecting on her personal journey, she revealed that she constantly asked herself, “What is the worst that could happen?” — a mindset she said pushed her to overcome fear and strive for success.

Dr. Agyeman recounted her rise from being “a small village girl from Duayaw Nkwanta in Ghana, West Africa” to becoming a respected professional and motivational figure in the United States.

She urged the graduates to remain hopeful and ambitious, stressing that circumstances should never limit one’s future aspirations.

“Every girl deserves the chance to dream, to rise, and to succeed,” she stated during her address, which received admiration from attendees at the ceremony.

Her speech has since been praised for its message of resilience, determination, and empowerment, particularly for young people aspiring to achieve greatness despite humble beginnings.
