Kotoko’s Coach Credited His Team's Victory Over Accra Lions To "High Pressing."

Kumasi Asante won their second successive away game of the season in Week 33 of the betPawa Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Sarfo-Taylor's second away goal and third of the season came as a result of Kumasi Asante Kotoko's first-half dominance over Accra Lions.

Abdul Gazale and his side have shared the same points with Bechem United to settle in fourth place on the league table after the second away win following their victory against Kotoku Royals, but the Hunters from Bechem trail by one league game to Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Asante Kotoko's win over Accra Lions at Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday night gives them a better season head-to-head record; Kotoko thrashed them 4-0 when they visited Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Week 16 on February 6, 2023.

Both teams dominated each half, but the home side, Accra Lions, failed to score in the second half when they took control, while Kotoko scored in the first half when they had better possessions and chances.

In an interview with StarTimes after the win, the head coach, Abdul Gazale, disclosed what contributed to his team’s victory against Accra Lions and hinted that they came into the game with the mindset that they were to press high on the home team.

Gazale disclosed, "Well, today our tactics worked for us. We decided to come into this game because we knew Accra Lions; they are very good in possession of the ball, and they always want to start possession from their defence."

Following the victory, the head coach who succeeded Seydou Zerbo spoke to StarTimes about his team's mindset.

"We came in here with the mindset that we were going in for high pressing, and I think the high pressing also helped us because it gave us a goal, and it also made them frustrated," Gazale revealed.
